Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Golden Era

Bugatti unveiled this fancy one-off Chiron Super Sport ahead of Monterey Auto Week, which has been dubbed the "Golden Age".

The Golden Age is a celebration of Bugatti's biggest hits as the company discontinues production of the W-16 engine and transitions to an electric future under new parent company Rimac.
Hand-drawn sketches of the legendary Bugatti cover the sides of the car; took more than 400 hours to produce.
It's become a cliché to call a stylish supercar a "work of art", but when it comes to the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport "Golden Era" the title is particularly appropriate. This exquisite machine was unveiled ahead of its official debut at the upcoming Monterey Auto Week, and features beautiful murals on the sides celebrating Bugatti's legacy.

The one-off design emerged from Bugatti's Sur Mesure division, which handles some of Bugatti's most bizarre and creative customization projects commissioned by ultra-wealthy clients. This project began when a passionate Bugatti collector approached the company with the idea to honor Bugatti and its W-16 engine, which will end production after the last 2024 Mistral roadster leaves the factory. The process of designing the Golden Age took two years, and the company described it as "the most challenging bespoke project Bugatti has ever undertaken".

The Golden Age is based on a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport that combines a 1578-horsepower version of the quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 and a custom long-tail carbon fiber body from the 300 mph Super Sport 300+. . In our hands, the Super Sport accelerated to 100km in 2.2 seconds and only needed 14.8 seconds to break the 200 mph limit.

While Bugatti's hallmark W-16 only debuted in 2005 with the record-breaking Veyron, the customer wanted the masterpiece to include key vehicles throughout the brand's more than 100-year history. Images appear on the front fenders and doors as the paint changes from metallic Nocturne Black to a distinctive light gold color called "Doré". On the passenger side, 26 hand-drawn sketches feature iconic cars like the Type 41 Royale and Type 57 SC Atlantic. There are also depictions of airplanes, a train, the company's chateau headquarters in Molsheim, and the signatures of Jean and Ettore Bugatti.

The driver's side showcases 19 sketches detailing Bugatti's history since it was revived by Romano Artioli in 1987 and subsequently acquired by Volkswagen Group in 1998. Here we see stunning hypercars from the EB110 to the Veyron and Chiron and the side profile of the hypercar. -La Voiture Noire and W-16 engine off. Alongside the limited edition Divo, Centodieci and Mistral, there is also a track-only Bolide.

Bugatti says the drawings are made with pencils used for sketching on paper and applied by hand directly to the body. The painstaking process took more than 400 hours, and Bugatti described the procedure of hand-drawing on a one-off bespoke Chiron as "daunting."
